| Tiger Cubs
BSA is a segment of the
Scouting program designed for first grade boys and their adult partners. This boy-adult
team is the core of the Tiger Cub program. While the adult is usually the Scout's parent,
this need not be the case. He or she must be at least 18 years of age and may be a
grandparent, aunt, uncle, adult sibling, or even an adult friend or neighbor. The boy and
his adult partner join Tiger Cubs BSA as a team and after graduation from the Tiger Cubs
the next step is into Cub Scouts and beyond

The Tiger Cub Den |
A Tiger Cub Den consists of
five to eight Tiger/adult teams. Their program centers around the "Big
Ideas" which the den chooses from the Tiger Cub Family Activity Book. The dens
meet twice a month. One of the meetings should be an activity or field trip and the other
can be an activity, field trip, pack meeting or age-appropriate pack activity.
Note:
1. For now our den will have one den
meeting and one pack meeting as a whole with the other Scouts per month. |
Leadership |
| Unlike Cub Scouts and
Webelos Scouts, Tiger Cubs are not led by a Tiger Cub Den Leader. Each boy-adult
partner team assumes the responsibility for hosting one or more den meetings throughout
the year. The host team plans the meeting program and location. Through this sharing of
leadership, each pair has the opportunity to lead without assuming the commitment of
continuing leadership. This shared leadership is an important component of Tiger Cubs BSA
and should not be circumvented by well-meaning individuals who offer to assume all
leadership. |
Activities |
Activities
for Tiger Cub group sessions can be found in the Tiger Cub Family Activity Book and the
Tiger Cub Resource Book, available in the Scout Shop.
Most of the Districts offer a special "Tiger Cub Only" activity each year
|
| Recognition in the Tiger Cub program is simple,
designed to provide a casual and success-filled introduction to Scouting. Tiger Tracks
(iron on stickers) are awarded on completion of each "big idea". Activity beads
and/or wall chart stickers are awarded for participation in any activities of the den's
choosing. |
